Job Opportunity: Business Manager

Kelson Marine Co. is hiring a full-time Business Manager. Exceptional candidates with appropriate experience will be considered for a COO role. This individual will run Kelson’s non-technical operations including financial management, administration, and optimizing employee experience. An ability to work effectively with teammates is essential.

Location

Kelson is headquartered on the Portland Fish Pier in Portland, Maine, USA. Our working model is built around extreme teamwork. Therefore, the majority of working hours are in the office. But for the rest, employees decide when and where they work best.

Skills

Required:

Experience in small business operations

  • Financial
    • Accounting 
    • Accounts payable / receivable
    • Financial reporting and cash-flow forecasting
    • Accounting software (Xero, Quickbooks, etc.)

    • Onboarding

    • Team building

Desired:

  • Experience in Blue Economy industries (Ocean renewable energy, aquaculture, fishing, ocean sensing, etc.)
  • Experience in federal contracting
  • Experience in commercial and federal bid and proposal processes

Exceptional candidates with strong experience contributing to the sustainable growth of small businesses will be considered for a Chief Operating Officer role. This role would further entail:

  • Business strategy
  • Team leading and recruiting
  • Market identification and entry
  • Marketing and business development
  • IP management
  • Creation and management of spin-off entities

What We Offer

  • Salary, based on experience and qualifications,
    • $70,000 - $90,000 for Business Manager, or
    • $90,000 - $120,000 for Chief Operating Officer
